Receive guided “hands-on” instruction and working experience from the audio teams at Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry House.   Assist the audio department staff with shop projects and onstage projects, in preparation for live performance events. 


  • Assist with setting up and operating audio equipment and systems for live and
  • taped productions, recordings and other audio needs of Ryman Auditorium and its
  • clients.
  • Aquire working understanding of professional audio equipment, routing, processing
  • and recording devices.
  • Assist and participate in the operation of audio equipment.
  • Maintain awareness of music structures and arrangements including current
  • instrument and backline technologies..
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment, as required.
  • Investigate alternate equipment and systems routing in order to troubleshoot and
  • work around potential failures occurring during event production.
  • May interface with producers, clients and talent as to their needs.
  • Assist audio supervisor, monitor engineer, broadcast engineer, stage manager and production manager as needed.
  • Ensure that all equipment is used safely, in accordance with proper industry standards, from the load in through the load out.  Maintain a safe and secure environment for artists, clients, employees, etc ensuring that all codes, laws, regulations and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



  • High school diploma or equivalent additional experience.  Working toward a bachelors or associates degree in the audio production field, with an accredited institution.


  • General knowledge of professional audio systems and equipment for live production.  Basic knowledge of music, acoustics and electronics.
