Overview

Receive guided “hands-on” instruction and working experience from the Lighting teams atRyman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry House.   Assist the Lighting department staffwith shop projects and onstage projects, in preparation for staged performance events.  Assist Lighting Engineer and Lighting Director with establishing the safe and effective functionalityof various components of lighting equipment, and the operation of lighting consoles, controls, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lighting Staff regarding stage lighting needs and installations.
  • Shadow show lighting electrician, learning how to promptly respond to show emergencies.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance of lighting equipment for the Opry House and Ryman
  • Auditorium, including documentation of work done.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment, as required.
  • Have working knowledge of current lighting technologies and vendors. 
  • Assist and Serve as board operator during shows, as needed.
  • Ensure safe rigging and function of equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:           

  • High school diploma or equivalent additional experience.  Working toward a Bachelors or Associates degree in Technical Theatre with a concentration in Lighting Design preferred, at an accredited institution.

Experience:         

  • General knowledge of theatrical lighting.  Ability to interface with management and clients.
