The Server System Engineer is primarily responsible for managing technology solutions both on premise and cloud-based. The job supports and administers a mid-sized enterprise infrastructure.  This role is responsible for problem identification, research, resolution, and follow-up for systems engineering issues and manages engineering related tasks and projects with minimal supervision.  This role will function as a high-level technical subject matter expert within a small group of engineers and analysts. 


  • Monitors, maintains, and optimizes the server infrastructure including Active Directory, server virtualization (i.e. MS Hyper-V, VMWare), cloud-based backups and storage management.
  • Oversee the data center by installing and maintaining server hardware, system racks ensuring a visually clean and consistent environment. Maintain the asset inventory across the brand, including servers and software licenses.
  • Administer and maintain technology specific to the protection of RHP information technology resources including monitoring and management of McAfee’s suite of security products, including End Point Security Products, Vulnerability assessment tool, Antivirus solution, Internet filtering, NAC solution and others.
  • Installs updates, patches, configuration changes on various types of software including operating systems and applications on a variety of server hardware platforms.
  • Identify problems with network utilization and coordinate with third party vendors to resolve.
  • Serves as support contact and works closely with internal and vendor resources to resolve customer issues.
  • This role must have the ability to analyze requirements, plan, design, test, deploy and document solutions within change management guidelines
  • Maintains and manages vendor service level agreements to ensure they are met or exceeded.
  • Assists in the evaluation of vendor products for future purchase.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field of study or equivalent experience.




Minimum of 3 years of broad-based IT experience with technical knowledge of network, hardware, storage, server operating systems, and applications. This will require hands-on technical proficiency in hardware and software infrastructure as well as the technical aptitude to pick up new technologies and concepts. This position is essential to operations and will be required to be available during any emergency. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to maintain an on-call status.


Technical Experience

  • Hands-on technical knowledge of the Microsoft Windows server operating systems including Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012
  • Understanding of voice and telecom basics (Nortel) and VoIP (Cicso)
  • Technical understanding, troubleshooting, and deployment experience with virtualization technologies
  • Provide 24x7x365 operations support during on-call duty cycles
  • Experience with McAfee information security management software suite
  • Experience supporting Active Directory 2012. experience with:  Active Directory Federation Services 2.0, Active Directory Domain Services, Windows PowerShell 2.0, Certificates (PKI), and DNS
  • Ability to monitor hardware, software, and applications for events, interpret and analyze performance and capacity data, and conduct resulting trouble-shooting and break/fix as appropriate
  • Working knowledge of Internet protocols, tools and techniques including but not limited to: Internet Information Server, Server operating systems installation and configuration, Internet security, Virtual Private Networking (VPN), TCP/IP, Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN)
  • Required to have basic understanding with networking, both wired (Cisco) and wireless (Aruba), and telecom basics including routing protocols and LAN/WAN technologies; VoIP administration (Cisco); telephony (Nortel);
  • Experience with Dell equipment
