Plan, organize and manage Custodial duties for the Grand Ole Opry House, Opry Call Center, Box Office, Acuff House, Retail warehouse and WSM 650 AM radio offices. Includes all areas of cleaning, safety, sustainability, long-term planning, budget, purchasing, staffing and payroll. Ensures the facilities are cleaned, well maintained and safe to the highest levels daily for our guests and employees. Ensures proper staffing levels are maintained. Responsible for research, procurement and on-going management of out-source partners for the custodial department.


  • Responsible for overall custodial duties required to provide a clean facility with the proper use of products to provide sanitary conditions for our guests and employees. Provides routine inspections to ensure required cleaning tasks and schedules are met. Ensures detailed cleaning procedures are performed.
  • Oversees and works with Supervisor on scheduling of all work including, deep cleaning of carpets, upholstery, and hard surface floors based on needs of specific areas to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and are completed properly.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper staffing levels are met for the daily events and the tasks required are completed based on the event needs. Reports all maintenance issues to direct manager and manager of maintenance via email in a timely manner providing a detail description of issue.
  • Responsible for mentoring and training of all staff to be able to perform all duties based on the needs of the business. Responsible for ensuring timely disciplinary actions based on infractions of policies by working with the Custodial Supervisor. Responsible for working with staffing to resolve conflicts. Listens to all employees concerns and addressing any issues in a confidential and timely manner.
  • Approve and place all orders for paper & cleaning chemical and supplies and small equipment. Recommends needs for replacement or new equipment required to perform duties. Responsible for equipment upkeep and repairs.
  • Responsible for selection of contractors, scheduling and inspections of contractor work to verify work is performed to meet required standards. Works directly with contractor to resolve any performance issues.
  • Responsible for accurate time and attendance reporting for the Custodial department including approval of timesheets for payroll purposes. Tracks and documents costs and labor hours for all events.
  • Must be able to perform all functions of Custodian staffing as well as have the ability to operate and train employees on any equipment required to provide a clean environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent


  • 4 years of Custodial experience required
  • 3-year supervisory experience required
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Good communication skills required


  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record
