Overview

Serves as a liaison between Information Technology and other business entities to ensure business solutions are accurately presented for approval and implemented to achieve business goals. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives, and formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Business Services Request (BSR), Business Requirements Document, business process flows, and gap analyses. Pro-actively recommends strategies and enhancements to improve efficiency and business performance.
  • Elicits requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, tasks and workflow analysis to define business solutions.
  • Organizes and prioritizes requirements based on review sessions with stakeholders and translating those requirements into packages used for vendor RFI’s, RFP’s, scorecards and used to provide the foundation for test cases. Manages vendor relationships to ensure effective compatibility with future development and business needs (working with System Analysts on existing vendor relationships).
  • Acts as the business liaison on discovery efforts, projects, and in initiatives led by external resources while directing and validating the work of team members to ensure accurate representation of both current and desired state processes and business system usage. Responsible for analysis and documentation of the "as is" and "to be" business processes using business process modeling techniques.
  • Constructs business case estimates, partner with the Enterprise Architecture team and System Administrators to propose solutions based on business requirements and capture all I.T. related costs/effort to be used for proposed solution(s) presentation to the business. Collaborates with IT developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs. Coordinate vendor selection and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Plans and conducts meetings for discovery, review of current and desired processes, potential solutions, project comparisons, and any meetings designed to engage and educate company stakeholders on IT led initiatives. Stakeholders can refer to front line STARS, department heads, directors, Vice Presidents and property GM’s.
  • Acts as a consultant and subject matter expert on projects, especially discovery projects where system or discipline knowledge is a plus but where detailed functional knowledge is not necessarily required. Ensures that the Business Analyst discipline is represented and/or the Business Analyst work is reviewed on IT led initiatives. Supports user acceptance and business process testing. Participates in the acceptance of products, services and enhancements prior to roll-out to ensure that requirements are met.
  • Performs the role of business analyst on designated projects or review Business analyst work (through methodology reviews, gate reviews, and business requirement reviews). In addition, manages small project teams (less than 200 hours).
  • Remains current with hospitality technology and/or finance & accounting by attending industry tradeshows, conducting industry research, and reviewing hospitality vendor roadmaps. Researches the industry to discover new business practices / methods and potential system solutions to the current business strategy. Ensures alignment with the business by reviewing leadership presentations, conducting subject matter expert interviews, conducting application owner interviews, and attending business strategy and planning meetings.
  • Conducts cost benefit analysis and risk assessment of new business strategies and solutions. Performs financial and operational analysis to determine return on investment of information technology solution for business units.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Hospitality, Finance or related discipline or equivalent additional experience

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in business analysis; hospitality industry knowledge/experience a plus
  • At least 5 years’ experience with documenting and implementing as-is and to-be business processes supported by technology solutions.
  • At least 2 years managing small project teams
  • At least 5 years’ experience with use case, diagramming (e.g., Visio) and business process modeling tools
  • Experience as a senior analyst for large, enterprise-wide applications a plus
  • Experience with full SDLC life cycle
  • Experience writing requirements for solutions based on marketing technologies (Salesforce, MSCRM etc.) is a distinct plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must possess strong analytical and investigative skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to write technical reports understandable to non-IT staff
  • Strong project/product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter expert
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Strong facilitation skills. Must be able to elicit requirements from various personalities across organizational and geographical boundaries
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
